FROM PASTELS TO POSSIBILITIES : MY UNEXPECTED JOURNEY INTO ART
Dreaming in Color: My Journey into Art
They say pictures can tell more than words can say.
I did not dream to be an artist nor to be a poet.
But now, can I dream to be one?
The Beginning of Something Beautiful
I love painting, but I don't know how to sketch or paint. I try to draw—October last year (2019)—using oil pastel as a start. Maybe because I was challenged to do so, and I was in a group with lots of great artists. Ate Karla, Madam Suzette, and the PH fam inspire me to paint.
And then I start watching a YouTube tutorial about painting.
And I found out, I can paint. Isn't it great, right?
That moment was more than just trying something new—it was the start of discovering a hidden part of myself. The encouragement from others and the joy of learning gave me a sense of purpose I hadn’t felt before.
A Leap into the Unknown
After six years of working closely with my employer and her family, they relocated to London, prompting me to seek new opportunities for personal and professional growth. I find myself at a crossroads—eager for something new, yet still uncertain about what that next chapter looks like.
After changing job, I thought I don't have a chance to draw again because I need to adjust with the new environment, new people and place. And I don't even have time to write poetry and it's really terrible. I don't even have time to practice painting.
But I was wrong.
A Gallery of Possibilities
Because my employer's father owned a gallery.
And when they found out that I love painting and sometimes I draw, they always invite me to visit their gallery.
It's really a great opportunity for me to meet an international artist.
That unexpected connection reminded me that sometimes, life opens doors we didn’t even know existed. I wasn’t just adjusting to a new job—I was stepping into a world that felt like home.
Well, it's not purposely, I captured the artist ( Miss Angela Wong ) photographer. ππππHe actually makes me feel conscious when he takes photos on me while looking around. πππ
Unplanned Paths, Emerging Dreams
There are some things I experienced that I did not plan to do but it's emerging.
Sometimes I try something because I was challenged to do so.
Now I've met an award-winning artist in Hong Kong.
Shall I dream now to have a painting exhibit? Hahaha.
Wow, that's really a big dream.
Marami pa akong kakaining bigas, aww kanin pala before I reach my new dream.
But I believe in my own ability and I don't mind what others may think about me.
I'm happy with my own self.
My Quote, My Compass

I'm holding on in my own quote... Because it's remind me that dreams aren't just for sleeping, they are for living. And maybe, just maybe, this is the beginning of something beautiful.
About Me
Hi, I’m Mari Felices. I write about love, heartbreak, and the quiet lessons life teaches us along the way. My words are pieces of my soul—sometimes poetic, sometimes raw, but always honest. If even one person finds comfort in my story, then my writing has done its purpose.
